Interesting discoveries
1) DA RoadSigns is a font based on the typeface used on the directional signs found on Singapore's roads 🛣️
2) Honestly I LOL-ed so much at this comment. On Reddit: Rare cinereous vulture fails to fly after release attempt. 🦅
3) I've been sending snail mails these days and found this Mail Quality Guide by Singapore Post. It's like a style guide for mails. 🐌
4) Since June 2021, SMRT implemented a trial of NaviLens. It's like QR code, for the visually-impaired. It works from long distances, don't need camera focus, has wide-angle reading, and works in all light conditions 🤯. I discovered this from Reddit. Very cool tech!
Story time
I've been mailing out stickers!
I've always have a huge collection of stickers that I give them away in meetups. Some of them are free from other meetups, while some are purposely bought. And that means my collection is constantly growing if I don't give them away. I have them in big plastic sealers but they don't seem sustainable, so I upgraded them into Tupperwares last year.
Anyway, since I always get free stickers or buy stickers from online stores, I do get the joy of receiving them in mails. It feels different than getting stickers from in-person meetups.
So I gave it a try myself. I set a very MVP-ish Google Form, post them to a few chat groups and internal social timelines, as to gauge the demand and responses.
For roughly 2 weeks, I've mailed a bunch of them!
Few discoveries:
Stamps that are bought from SAM Kiosk machines are actually stickers. Kinda mind-blown because I used to collect stamps and they always need water to be adhesive. 💦
I haven't use the pen to write for a very long time, so writing addresses on the envelope was quite stressful 😂
I was worried that the stickers in envelopes might be folded or bent during delivery, but seems like they're safe. 😌
The responses have been great! It's always nice to see others get the joy of receiving stickers in mail 🤩.
Now I'm not accepting "orders". I'll be using this experience to calculate the logistics, finances, and effort required for my next "venture" (maybe? 🤷♂️) 😉
